Bigpoint GmbH, a worldwide leader in online gaming platforms, has appointed Arthur Bastings as co-CEO effective April 7, announced Heiko Hubertz, Bigpoint’s founder and CEO. Adding Bastings to the executive team in Hamburg will allow Hubertz to focus on international expansion in the United States. Both Hubertz and Bastings will report to the board.
“Arthur Bastings has successfully built top media brands on a global level, and I’m very happy that we’ve been able to attract him to Bigpoint,” said Hubertz, who founded Bigpoint in 2002.”We are now ideally positioned to accelerate our global growth plans.” Added Simon Guild, Bigpoint’s Chairman of the Board, “Arthur Bastings will bring a whole range of skills to Bigpoint and we are very excited about him joining the company.”
Bastings was most recently Managing Director at Discovery Networks, where he was responsible for the successful international expansion of the EMEA region. Prior to that, Bastings was at Turner Broadcasting Europe, the TV arm of Time Warner, where he became Managing Director for Northern and Central Europe. Bastings’ career has also seen him at MTV, where he initially served as Vice President of Strategic Planning at MTV Networks International, and then as Senior Vice President responsible for all Asian operations. Bastings, a Dutch National, holds a B.A. in Business Administration from Nijenrode University, the Netherlands and an M.A in International Economics and European studies from SAIS/John Hopkins University, U.S.A. In addition to Dutch, he speaks English, German, French and Italian.
