Sega scores a goal for War Child and Just Giving with Football Manager 2011

JustGiving, the UK’s largest online fundraising platform, and the international children’s charity War Child have teamed up with Sports Interactive and SEGA’s award-winning gaming series ‘Football Manager™’ in a cause-related marketing partnership launched this week (05 November).

Football Manager 2011, the sixth in the series, will include JustGiving and War Child banners on the virtual advertising boards alongside the pitch, which when clicked, will allow users to make donations to War Child via the JustGiving website. This innovation in fundraising within the game, is thought to be the first of its kind. For every Football Manager 2011 game sold, 10p will be automatically donated to the charity to support children affected by war. Copies of the game can pre-ordered at www.footballmanager.com/pre-order.

Speaking of the initiative, Jamie Parkins, Charity Product Manager at JustGiving, said: “At JustGiving we’re always looking for new ways to support the thousands of charities that use our site to raise crucial funds.  This innovation with Football Manager is breaking new ground for all the parties involved. We think it’s a great way to help raise more awareness of War Child and raise important funds, enabling it to further its work with children affected by the devastation of war in some of the most dangerous areas of the world.”
